Abstract

Social science and humanities (SSH) security management for research integrity and ethical data handling is covered in this chapter. Due to its different ethnic and socioeconomic participants, SSH research requires confidentiality, informed permission, and anonymity. The qualitative investigation used Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science papers. The chapter discusses how digitalization and online data collection have exacerbated cybersecurity threats like data leaks and illegal access. It stresses ethical oversight, including IRB and GDPR compliance. In interdisciplinary and transnational SSH research, scholars must traverse numerous legal regimes and collaborate across boundaries. Use encryption, secure storage, and strict data management to safeguard sensitive data. Institutions should support comprehensive cybersecurity and ethical research policies and training, the chapter says. Security precautions are essential for public trust, study validity, and participant rights and well-being. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing. All rights reserved.
