Abstract

This chapter examines the interconnected dimensions of cognitive processes, emphasizing concept formation, decision- making, reasoning, problem- solving, intelligence, creativity, and emotion. These elements shape human cognition, particularly in learning and problem- solving contexts like mathematics education. Concept formation underpins understanding abstract ideas, enabling effective decision- making, while reasoning supports logical conclusions and innovative problem- solving. Intelligence enhances information processing, and creativity introduces novel solutions. Emotions influence cognition, with positive emotions boosting creativity and problem- solving, while negative emotions like anxiety may hinder them. Using qualitative research and literature reviews, the chapter highlights the integration of these cognitive dimensions in education, offering strategies to enhance cognitive and emotional development for better learning outcomes and personal achievements. © 2026, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
