This research aims to build and analyze a SIRS (Susceptible, Infected-Recovered) model on online gaming addiction cases to predict the number of students addicted to online games. The population was junior high school students in Makassar City with a sample of 3986 students who are grouped into students trying to play online games, getting addicted, and stopping playing online games. The data collection technique used a questionnaire with proportionate stratified random sampling. The analysis of the SIRS model of online gaming addiction involved a generalization matrix, while the simulation model used a Maple computer application. The analysis and simulation of the SIRS model on this problem showed that students are addicted to online games. However, the simulation model showed that some students addicted to online games could be controlled. In addition, proper implementation of parameters such as proper guidance and counseling as well as parental supervision that inhibits students' participating in online games could mitigate the rise in some students addicted to online games, thereby stopping others from imitating those who are addicted. © 2023 Author(s).
