Development of technology enabled active learning simulation for conducting physics experiment in online learning

Abstract

One of the problems of learning physics with an online approach is the absence of experiment activities in the laboratory. Whereas direct observation in the laboratory is mandatory, especially in physics subjects. Therefore, a study was carried out that aims to produce a computer software as a solution for the implementation of practicum online in several selected fundamental physics topics and can be done independently. The resulting product is then called Technology Enabled Active Learning Simulation (TEALSim). The research used is Research and Development with a 4D research model adapted into 3D. The product that has been produced is then validated by 3 experts to determine its validity and reliability. Then a limited trial was conducted on 7 physics students online using the Learning Management System (LMS). This trial aims to determine student responses to products that have been developed and become one of the references in product improvement. The assessment by the expert shows the TEALSim product is valid and reliable. In addition, students' perceptions of the use of TEALSim were at a value of 89,58% with the category of strongly agreeing to the application of TEALSim. But there needs to be improvements to produce the final product. © 2023 Author(s).
