The global pandemic has significantly impacted the use of digital alternatives in education, particularly in English Language Teaching (ELT). Virtual communities and peer learning have transformed traditional classroom settings, promoting collaboration and interaction among students. This chapter explores the benefits of peer learning language acquisition and the various digital tools available to engage students. It emphasizes the importance of cultivating trust and belonging in virtual environments, which can help alleviate feelings of isolation. The chapter also discusses various digital tools that promote collaborative learning, such as writing tools, language exchange applications, discussion boards, and online whiteboards. It also discusses pedagogical strategies for facilitating collaborative learning, such as task-based learning, e-model, and gamification.
