Research on the magnetic mineral analysis of iron sand at Sampulungan Beach, Takalar Regency based on the value of magnetic susceptibility has been conducted. The iron sand was obtained from 30 points and was extracted using a magnetic bar. The magnetic susceptibility was measured using the Bartington Susceptibility Meter MS2 with the MS2B sensor. Furthermore, the types of magnetic minerals were analyzed based on the value of magnetic susceptibility. The results showed that the percentage of magnetic minerals was higher along with the trajectory near the settlement. Magnetic susceptibility values ranged from 33,932.62 x 10-8 m3 /kg to 71,829.96 x 10-8 m3 /kg. Based on the value of magnetic susceptibility, the dominant type of magnetic mineral in Sampulungan Beach was magnetite (Fe3O4). The great potential of magnetite at Sampulungan Beach can be further processed to be used in the metal industry. © 2019 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland. All rights reserved.
