This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of society technology science learning approaches (STM) to the scientific attitudes of 5th grade elementary school students. This research is an experimental research with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The number of samples in this study were 52 elementary school students. The instrument used to collect data related to students' scientific attitudes is a questionnaire. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis was done to get a description of the scientific attitude of students by paying attention to aspects of the highest value and lowest value, average value and standard deviation while inferential statistical analysis was to test the research hypothesis using the t-test (independent samples t-test). The results of this study indicate that the average value of the scientific attitude pretest in the experimental class and the control class are not much different, namely the average of 67.65 and 65.81 classified as less category while the average value of the posttest of the scientific attitude of students in the experimental class and the control class respectively 78.38 and 69.15. An increase in students' scientific attitudes in the experimental class taught using the STM approach from the less to high categories. For the scientific attitude of students in the control class taught by direct instruction there was no change in both the pretest and posttest results both in the less category. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, the calculated t value is 8,596 with t table 2,000 and sig value. (2-tailed) 0,000 <0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the implementation of the STM learning approach to students' scienti fic attitudes in learning science. © IJSTR 2019.
