Abstract

The swiftly advancing digital environment demands comprehensive cybersecurity education to counteract progressively complex threats and mitigate the expanding skills deficit in the sector Conventional training methods frequently neglect to captivate learners and impart the practical skills essential for real-world applications. Gamified learning provides a dynamic and successful approach by incorporating game design ideas into cybersecurity training programs, markedly improving motivation, skill retention, and practical experience. This research examines the convergence of gamification and cybersecurity education, emphasizing the efficacy of simulations, serious games, and competitive settings such as Capture the Flag (CTF) challenges. Emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR), are analyzed for their capacity to develop immersive, adaptable training environments. Ethical considerations, such as inclusivity and data protection, are also examined, highlighting the necessity for equal and effective training programs. © 2026, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
