This chapter examines the influence of personality traits on language learning materials, focusing on the Big Five personality psychology constructs. It explains how traits like extraversion, introversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, and neuroticism shape learners' relationships with language materials. These traits influence learning preferences, with extraverted learners preferring communicative classes, introverted learners preferring solitary reflective activities, conscientious learners preferring non-structured materials, and openness to experience learners being more motivated to work with unconventional tasks. The chapter suggests that materials should promote interest and engagement, and that they should be psychologically compliant. It also suggests incorporating personality assessments and research into instruction to increase learners' engagement and participation. © 2026 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
