This study investigates social entrepreneurship intention (SEI) in Indonesia’s creative economy sector using the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) as its framework. It explores the mediating roles of self-efficacy and outcome expectancy in the relationship between prior experience and SEI. A quantitative explanatory approach using surveys and PLS-SEM analysis was applied. Findings reveal that prior experience with social issues significantly influences SEI through increased self-efficacy and outcome expectancy. The study underscores the importance of individual belief systems and social exposure in shaping SEI, suggesting the need for targeted education and training programs to foster social entrepreneurial development. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
