The chapter examines Design-Based Research (DBR) and its function in connecting theory and practice. DBR's iterative, collaborative, and context-specific nature makes it successful for real-world educational difficulties. Continuous cycles of design, implementation, evaluation, and revision enable evidence-based, practical treatments. DBR arose to address the constraints of traditional educational research methodologies in dynamic and complex educational contexts. The chapter describes DBR's growth from the 1990s to its current uses in healthcare and industry. It emphasizes its versatility. DBR's iterative approach and ability to integrate digital technologies make it crucial in TEL. The chapter also emphasizes researcher-practitioner collaboration to provide relevant and effective interventions. DBR excels in providing practical answers and theoretical improvements in varied real-world contexts. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
