This study examines how student involvement affects democracy on higher education campuses. Mixedmethods research examines how activism affects university policy and governance, including student surveys, interviews, and institutional document content analysis. Critical racism theory and inclusive practices are highlighted in Yale University and Bowdoin College case studies of student movements that changed policy. The results show that student involvement promotes policy changes and a more inclusive and fair campus. The study shows how disadvantaged community narratives generate social change through storytelling and framing in activism. This study highlights the importance of student voices in shaping democratic practices and institutional change, examining the relationship between student activism and university governance and promoting ongoing engagement for progressive education. © 2025 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
