Abstract

The chapter explores the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English Language Teaching, highlighting the need to balance innovation with safeguarding autonomy, privacy, and fairness to learners. AI technologies like intelligent tutoring systems and adaptive learning platforms can improve language instruction, but concerns over data privacy, security, transparency, and the balance between autonomy and AI's role are also discussed. The article proposes a framework for balancing AI's role with learners' rights protection, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and justice. It calls for further studies on the ethical environment surrounding AI use in education and the development of comprehensive frameworks for its ethical integration.
