Effects of Blended Learning on Pedagogical Competence and Learning Motivation of Prospective Science Teacher

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect of blended learning on students' pedagogical competence and learning motivation for Science Teacher Prospective. The scope of this research is the teaching of Review of Science Education Curriculum course. A quasi-experimental study was conducted among two classes; Regular and International Class program consist of 67 students Science Education Study Program on academic year 2019/2020. Teaching method was used blended learning on Review of Science Education Curriculum course. The data of students' pedagogical competence were collected from a pre and post-test of pedagogical competence instrument, whereas data for learning motivation were collected through learning motivation questionaire. The differences between the two groups were then analyzed using the independent t-test. The findings revealed that blended learning can increase students' pedagogical competence and learning motivation. There was no significant difference in their students' pedagogical competence and learning motivation of Regular and international Class Program. The implication of this study is that blended learning is suitable to be implemented for teaching of Review of Science Education Curriculum course to increase students' pedagogical competence and learning motivation for science teacher prospective as long as there are adequate equipment, internet network and technical support. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc..
