The development of students' scientific literacy skill is an important aim of science education which is approved by science teacher, researcher and policymaker. This research aim was to understand the scientific literacy skills profile of senior high school students. This research was a descriptive study to analysis 73 student test results of scientific literacy skills in the 11st grade in one of the Senior High School in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The research data was obtained through technical test. The Test of Scientific Literacy Skill (TOSLS) was used as an instrument which includes of 2 indicators and 9 sub-indicators on global warming topics. These questions consist of 20 sets of question. It has been developed by researcher and validated by experts. There is difference in mean scores for male and female students which are determined by TOSLS indicators. The result shows that there are about 66% and 51% for female and male students respectively on understand methods of inquiry that lead to scientific knowledge, 58% for female students and 59% for male students on the category of organize, analyze, and interpret quantitative data and scientific information. These results can be used as a basic for determining the appropriate learning for student. © 2024 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
